I previously owned an old gold Motorola phone which I never wanted to get departed. Finally my Motorola phone departed me when the charger went off. So I finally decided to go for a good mobile. Finally I decided to go for W810i. This I decided on some of the factors. I wanted to go for a candy bar style phone as I, many times keep it in between my chin and shoulder and start talking while working. This kinda talking is difficult with a flip phone. I didnt want to go for a joystick based phone as I had heard some complaints from such phones. W810i had a 512MB card that was more than any other phone was provided with. At that time they were giving seperate speakers along with the package that was cute and powerful.
Pros:
When I started using the phone I discovered many other things.
Some of the things are that U can store more than one number in one contacts. It has connectivities like USB, IR, Bluetooth, GPRS. No EDGE connectivity.
The display is very good with high resolution screen display.
When the battery is very low say less than 5%, there is a LED in the IR window that starts blinking indicating that the battey is very low.
When we receive an SMS with a number in it, u can select the number and store it directly after selection.
Has funny frame picutres that u can take in a 640x480 resolution pics (The camera is a 2MP).
Can record a phone conversation (need when u dont have a pen and a paper to write some details)
Can use the phone as a torch or SOS.
Can store 20 FM stations
Battery backup is pretty good. For a call of 20-25 mins per day, battery comes upto 3-4 days.
Can configure a start stop button to start stop radio.
Has a dedicated buttonmg for walkman launch.
Has a dedicated button to configure any menu function.
Cons:
The Plane mode is that you can only listen to MP3 songs and no access to FM radio or anything else. Some times, if the keypad tones are ON, at times it starts producing very high freq on every key press (Probably its only in my phone).
Cannot record FM songs that are been played.
Has only 2 inbuilt games
Takes some time to display 2M pixel picture preview
Key lock/unlock operation is opposite to that of Nokia/Motorola handsets
