Here is a small heads up from my side as well:
Well 2.6" 262k touch screen.sounds impressive .and is impressive
indeed Very Happy The touchscreen is pretty responsive but to be honest
I am worried if itll last longer or not. Seeing it, it looks very
fragile.
The sound quality is top notch. The phone offers the Walkman 2.0 so it
has a lot of improvements over the previous walkman versions. The thing
that I didnt like is absence of user define EQ. The walkman has around
10 presets but still people like me want to keep altering the stuff to
see what all can be done. another thing I wanted is better sound level
which is a bit less. acceptable though.
The best thing is the symbian UIQ3. I have installed DivX player, Google Maps, NFS Pro-Street and some little applications.
The interface is a bit complicated but still very much usable. After u get a hang of it, it simply sailing thru the menu items.
The phone offers full HTML browser and supports the lanscape mode also.
But nothing great here since it doesnt feature EDGE .ur net speed
will only be 30-40 kbps in abstract. Yes the phone offers 3G capability
but my friends this is INDIA.3G will be available only for the next
generation kids.for us its all a dream.
The picture browser is a bit confusing. The controls simply go away
after u use the FULL SCREEN option.irritating stuff. U have to go
back to thumbnails view to select other picture.
The phone offers a nice utility to monitor the running
applications.the task manager. U can simply view all the
applications running, sort them by name, by memory they are consumin,
kill them on ur wish. Laughing
The jog dial supplied is 3-way, not like previous SE jog dials that
used to offer 5 way navigation but still even that is a handy thing for
quick browsing.
The supplied headset HPM 82 is great both in design and functionality.
All the basic controls are on the cord itself so u dont need to take
out the phone to change tracks, to alter the volume.when on the
move.another nice thing.
The best feature.the 4GB internal memory(around 3.6 available).
The phone when connected in File Transfer Mode acts so fast that its
hard to imagine if we transfered the data in a connected device or
internal hard disk partition.
The phone offers bluetooth with A2DP profile so u can enjoy stereo
music wirelessly on a bluetooth enabled stereo headset. I havent
experience it so cant write anything here. In fact I dont even like
that idea.but still its an added advantage.
Another good thing is that the phone doesnt offer a camera. People do
complain about that but who the hell want to capture moments on those
silly 2-3 MP cameras. They are pathetic when comes to real photography.
I have Cybershot w-70 with me so I dont care about getting a camera for
namesake there. Also it gives me more space for my primary applications.
As per me, I think sony has done a great job in making a multimedia
smart phone which is targeted on a very niche set of people, the people
who are very specific in their needs and dont want all in a box kinda
stuff.
The phone is retailing for as less as 12K in markets but guys those
phones are part of bundle offers which were not sold in UK and US and
are now being sold for less here. In sony india it still is available
for 26K. For the guys who are buying the phones from open market, I
suggest to flash their firmware to latest global ones.
