Televisions are sometimes given adjectives. Some people call them Idiot boxes, some call them the devil’s sub-concience mind, but for some its a leisure without which they cant do.
I think Televisions are a Mind soother! Although most of the times people complain (so do I) that there’s no good programs coming, but we still insist to sit and watch even while critising. In my view, it just helps you get your mind off the daily life tensions and stress.
How I decided to buy the TV was quite a coincidence. Just went out to a friends’ place and saw his new sony tv, the same model. Made me think why not get one for myself (Finance companies now offering 0% finiance on almost everything imaginable-the benifits of an open economy! thanks to Mr. Manmohan Singh (ex-finance minister ) now Prime Minister)as there’s only one tv in my house and that also in my parent’s room (aGAIN A sony BUT 25’’) which is usually used to watch ’’kYUKI SAAS BHI KABHI BAHU THI’’ OR ’’BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL’’....which frankly speaking in my view is an insult to any TV.
So bought the Sony Wega KVXJ29 M80/50. now here, before I give my review of the Tv I would like to mention one thing...any person who has previously owned a sony, knows in the back of his/her mind that there is no comparison to the quality and perfiormance of a SONY.
He/she might look at every other brand possible, due to whatever reasons, may it be budget contraints or just being wanting a change thinking that maybe, Just MAYBE there is some other brand which may give him/her something which sony doesnt give (feature wise) at the same or lesser price.
But lemme tell you by dear friends, ONCE A SONY, ALWAYS A SONY !!
Sony is unmatchable in picture quality, audio quality and features (being the apt ones usally required and not some GoldenEye and S*^t like that which frankly speaking, according to me are all marketing gimics.
Watching a DVD on this tv is truly a very pleasurable experience and leaves you
wondering sometimes that why the hell you spent all that money in going to Multi-plexes rather than just installing a decent set-up in the comfort of your own room and enjoy Home Theater at home.!( Why I mentioned room here is because thats what a 29’’ is good for.
If you want to set it up in a Lobby or Sitting room, or exclusive TV room as people now call them, a 34’’ minimum will be a better choice.)
One of the advantages of this TV is it had DVD COMPONENT OUT which if tried with the proper cable will leave you spell bound on how clear a picture can be as compared to the normal video/s-video out. (play a ORIGINAL DVD to actually notice the difference.)Component cables when atatched to the the dvd player (make sure your DVD player as a component out, which as recommended by me before, the Philips DVP-642k has!) gives the output to the TV in three different channels namely, RGB and not through a single cable as in video out/s-video out.
Another thing which I noticed about this TV is that its sharpness even while watching cable television (who’s signal is analog unless you guys have DTH) is still awesome.
Now coming to the sound system. Although unlike other brands (namely Samsung) which has a 4 speaker system, SONY TV’s usually have 2 speaker system But sound a million times better than other brands.Attach a woofer and you have yourself the BASS effect as well (Personally I wouldnt reccomend it.Heavy speakers, or woofers need to be in a wooden accoustic box rather than in some plastic box which from past experience, starts rattling very soon.)It has a 5-channel graphic equilizer which can be used to change your sound settings according to personal preference.
The only draw back is that, in this fast age of technological advancement, leaving out an imp feature like Progressive scan in one of the most selling models of SONY 29’’ TVs, is not a good idea. SONY does have a model which does offer that feature but its in the 80, 000...price bracket for the same size!!! will you believe it!!!
But in the end, I would say, its an Overall a winner!!!!!
Although expensive in its segment, its a true champion as its an investment which one will treasure for a lifetime!
