Even I wonder that when Sony is going to release PLaystation 3 (PS3) why should I write anything on Playstation 1...!!! But some products are there which make hit of the decade..one such is PS by Sony
I got my console 2 years back and many people may be surprised that I bought mine after I had spend playing 100+ games on Computers over 6 years Reasons are many..
which I may tell PS is nothing but a game console which you have to plug with your TV sets and you have to put game CD inside and have two remotes to play with it IMportant :there is no arrangement for inbuilt memory ..you have to purchase extra memory chips which cost a few good bucks...very sad especially if you are used to PC games
Now a days new PS are available in market in range of 4k to 5k depending upon your bargaining extra memory sticks are available for few hundred bucks (each will have 10-15 slots , i.e. 10-15 sessions of game can be saved) Extra remotes (with vibrators) 400-500 bucks Games CD (i exclude pirated one) will be slight heavy on your pocket...per game CD (near all games are standalone games) will be 2-300 to 1-2k it depends on company ..
The PS is 32 bit machine that makes it as good as PC performance-wise One advantage is that PC will have bigger memory and graphics is easily comtrolled by your monitor..whereas in case of PS you have to plug in your TV set
One benchmark : Play Road rash(because it easily available..) on computer and then on PS ..you will know the difference Ofcourse PS wins..
One solid advantage is >>21 inch(generally) screen whereas TV monitor <<17 inch Sound quality is better The remotes are highly robust...computer keyboards are very fragile..remotes also not as equal to sony PS remotes
One clear advantage of PS is that you can play audio CDS with visualization effects....same as winamp/windows media player in PCs
Further you can plug Video adapter to see VCDs..tha adapter is available for few hundred bucks Very robust design , , it can withstand your tortures.
Ergonomic remote with which you can play for hours together
The games are very wide range , easily available, very cheap also (Don’t believe ...pl compare with other game console , computer games CDs)
One advantage is there ..many people already have this console so you can get CDs for exchange also
Lot of cheat sites are there to give you cool cheats on PS games
Some games are simply addictive

As far as cons are there
One big problem is memory management
In PC game saving is childs job very quick very manageable (may be because of Windows )..In PS not only it takes time for reading and writing but also tracking is difficult
The CD player some time produces creaking sound..bit irritating
Takes some time more for loading games compared to PCs and other consoles
