Hi there,
I started my reviews at MS with a review on this one and was not sure what to write. After a few months, I found that the review was totally immature and half hearted approach. Hence, I have re-done the entire review.
In 2003, the Govt. decided to introduce set-up boxes for Tv vewing and Chennai was selected as the test case (I think that’s because they expected the minimum resistance). So the outcome was a near black-out of all Hindi Channels and we were forced to see the only 2 available channels: Sahara TV and Sab TV.
That time Sahara had already come up with its mega offering: Karishma. However, after watching a few episode, it felt like yuck. So the only available option was Sab TV.
I won’t say that I hated watching SAB, but I would have still preferred having Star Plus and Sony.
Slowly I started a liking for SAB TV and realized that this is a channel, where you need not use any sense of logic after a hectic day in office. You can simply relax and enjoy. The serials started attracting me and I again got glued to TV to watch the no sense fun.
After 3-4 months, we went ahead for Set-top box and got all channels…. What happened next? I was least bothered about the pay channels and continued with SAB TV.
SAB TV had a great range of comedies like Yes Boss, Office Office, Sriman Srimati etc. I think I have thoroughly enjoyed the channel.
That was a few months back. However, of late we have seen all the serials being repeated with hardly any addition of new programs. SAB’s flagship product: Office Office has been highly repetititive after a few episodes and can be termed highly predictable and boring. Only a few new serials to be added ar Chupke Chupke, Jasoos 005 and Carry on Sekhar. Yes Boss is the only serial that continues with fresh episodes. Otherwise, all serials are repetitions.
SAB TV seriously need to revamp itself or else it will vanish from the scene like many other chanels.
I am modifying my rating from 5 stars to 3 stars.
