As a consumer, Iam completely satisfied with the performance of my Sony SPP111 cordless telephone.I purchased it on December 2000 and till date there hasn’t been a single problem. The telephone is working fine and is almost like new.One grudge is that the white prints like TALK/OFF on the handset disappeared just after six months of purchase. This shouldn’t be a case with a Sony product.I hope Sony looks into this.
Iam also satisfied with the features of the telephone. It has an unique safety code system to make sure no one is misusing the cordless when it isn’t engaged and not in the base.Build quality is pretty good and it has a solid, built to last feel.
The handset is quite heavy(compared to my UNIDEN CT301) and do grip it tightly while using or else it can slip off your palm. Also the shape could have been better i.e the shape isn’t palm-friendly.The sound is clear and undisturbed and you can have important/secret conversations with your boss/girlfriend safely, without repetitions.
I feel the TALK/OFF functions could have been integrated in a single button and that would have been more user-friendly.However this isn’t a serious problem.
One thing that is a problem is the colour of the phone. This ash-black shade is an eyesore and Sony better manufactures the SPP 111 in lighter and more tasteful shades. It looks too common.
At around Rs 3000/- apiece, this telephone isn’t exactly cheap, but you get the peace of mind of having purchased a Sony product. This product is fully imported as a CBU(completely-built-up) unit.I recommend this model to anyone who can digest the boring colour and a somewhat conservative look.
