I Should say, I was cheated with more info/photos/features in website that doesnt match the real scenario (except for the price). Not even 1% close. As everyone do, I was searching for a good beach resort in Pondicherry in web. I was planning for a 2 day weekend trip so looking at a resort at nominal cost. Its my first highway trip in my new car (Ritz). I reached Pondicherry after a 3 hr drive and called the Resort to check the address and location. The reply I got was, come to Auroville and ask any one, they will show you the route. The same reply came when I called him just 2 km before the destination.
Finally after enquiring a lot, we reached the resort. First impression was very bad. There is no beach near by, you have to walk 500 mts and still they call this as "Soorya Beach Resort". Funny. I went into the reception and the manager showed me a pamplet with Room rates.
I opted for Garden View Room (AC) which is Rs 1500 for 1 night (24 Hrs Checkin/checkout. Let me describe the room type.Garden View Room - Ground floor, since you cannot view beach from that heightBeach View Room - 1st and 2nd Floor, you can view in a very far distance (ha ha ha)Now, let me tell you abt the room.Size - Very small. . .AC - Good but shuts off/on automatically every 10 mins. . .Toilet - Neat but Water heater was not workingBed - Neat but heavy smoke smell. . .
Towels - Dirty, we cant even use it for floor cleaning. Luckily we brought our Towel/soap travel kit. . .Restaurant - Come on, height of frustration, only 5-10 items were available out of 50 items in menu. It was so expensive.Restaurant vs Resort - Lot of politics b/w Resort manager and the Restaurant manager, no proper billing is done. Adjacent rooms were occupied by local people and drunkards. It was so noicy and disturbing to sleep as there was some quarral b/w them and restaurant. We left the hotel 2 hrs before than we planned.Anyway, we enjoyed our first highway trip in our new car, she gave us 20 KMPL which was amazing and we will definitely forget this hotel experience.
