I just called SOTC to inquire about a Gujarati Maujilo Group Tour that I wanted to send my mother to. And I did this after checking out their website and all the details etc in there. They had some offers going online. When I called Mrigesh quoted me a completely different price from the one in the website. When I questioned about it, the proceeded to tell me it was on the USD conversion rate of 57 INR TO 1 USD. I was shocked. I told him what I see online today is a conversion rate of 55.18. How can he quote me 57?? He said it’s according to Deutsche Bank conversion rates. So I told him I am not a dumb person.
I will call the bank right now in front of you from another phone and I guarantee you they will quote me even less then what I see that you are quoting. So then he said ok and calculated an approx amount based on 55 INR. I told him I don’t want any approx rates. After committing, I wouldn’t want to be hassled with additional charges. So I told him I want a clear figure and clarification NOW as to what the tour costs or I will wait for a the USD rate to come down and then call them back after a month or so. To which he promptly said no. This is what it is. Then of course he got into details of how the additional costs etc. To which I pulled up the website and told him that its listed as ALL inclusive with visas, tickets, meals, travel insurance etc all covered in the price. So he said he will speak with an executive to clarify and then get back to me.
He called me back and said that according to the executive the website was not updated!!! So I told him that is very strange he should say that since I have been checking the website for a week now and all the departure dates and its availabilities have been updated daily. So which part were they choosing to NOT update? i told him that I do not like this misrepresentation and I will take this to the media if they are not careful about their dealings. I want to send my 73 yr old mother on a group tour because I genuinely think she would’ve enjoyed meeting new people and seeing a new place. But I would hate for her to be harassed for additional charges etc while on tour with them and where she would have no choice but to give in to their demands.
Why the hell cant there just be transparent dealings in all this? I am willing to pay whatever the costs are but don’t try to screw me every step of the way and assume that I am a dumb person who will quietly accept the crap they are dishing out???
