South City mall has as good a haul of branded shops and designer boutiques as any. Several other fashion designers(including Ritu Kumar I think) have their own little shops there(with extravagant price tags of course).
The food court is a disaster, as are most food courts, very strangely and very annoyingly. Foods sickening, both quality and pricewise.
Id say the South City management need to fill up the centre of the amphitheatre-like mall with some fun and decorative items, to make it look more creative, spacious and substantial. I mean, as it stands now, its an empty space in the middle with escalators placed there.Place decorative trees, demos, watever. Like Forum in Bangalore.
The Mall is placed near Jadavpur Unviersity and SOuth City College, which ensures there will be a steady flow of youngsters, apart from those that come from far off to get a taste of variety in their galling, oops!malling experiences. Even so, the crowds not as exclusively hot as is most of the crowd in Forum of Kolkata. Neither is there the attraction of free space exclusively for hanging out and activities, as in City Centre. But give it some time. Its placed in an area that needs some of this. Lets see if they improve the place. Seeing the huge space they occupy, it has a lot of potential. SO lets see.
The atmospheres quite vibrant. The multiplex(fame) good.
Of course, my favourite remains Cookie Man at South City mall. Cookie Man has the most persistent salesmen of all- the smell of the cookies which waft through the mall and lead u to the shop quite efficiently.
