Recently, I had been to the Southindies Restaurant @ Indiranagar, 100 Feet road, Bangalore for dinner. It is certainly a boon for veggies like me.
The restaurant was almost full even for a weekday evening and the crowd was mainly families with kids. Weekends may be even more crowded. So if you are planning to visit there on a weekend it is better to check up the reservations prior.
Well the menu is loaded with the South Indian Specialities of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra. From Staters to Main Courses, till Desserts all the dishes are authentic South Indian ones. For a Roti/ Parantha lover Indies is not the right place. But if you are a lover of spicy food then this place is worth visiting.
Among the delicacies, "Vazhaipoo Cutlet" and "Masala Podi Appam" are worth trying. Well there is no place for the chilli and tomato sauce in the table. Instead, you can find a red chutney, fresh coconut chutney and the coriander chutney on the table. The "Melagu thanni soup" may disappoint as this is lentil based and hence its on the thicker side than the regular soups.
The ambiance and service is good. The waiters are courteous. You have small candles or diyas in the table. So if your spouse wants a candlelit dinner you may try to convince them by bringing them here :-). The cutlery and the menu is different from the regular ones.
Dinner for two cost us around Rs.650/-. If one doesnt mind spending the amount then the place is worth visiting.
While leaving the restaurant we were given a small box at the reception. The box had a small "Pickle Jar" with some pickle in it. The recipe for the pickle and a note from the Chef was also present in the box.
Good food, decent service and ambience and a bonus too..well what more can one ask for . Well I am looking forward to visit the Southindies again.
