Please do not go for Southern Express even by mistake. All 4 star and 5 stars above are fake. These people dont even deserve a 1 star. Please dont fall in trap seeing the reviews!
I had to shift my things from Chennai to Banglore. Since these people had given me a comparatively less quote(2000 Rs less) and the so called reviews in mouthshut.com were good, I had chosen them. Their filed officer Muthu(Mob:8124152608) visited my place and gave lot of promises, such as separate covered vehicle, professional staff, insurance coverage etc. he said, once the things reach Chennai, people from their office will come and unload the things.
On the day of shifting, I could see 4 guys, 2 of them very old who doesn’t know, Tamil or English(one of them could understand Tamil a bit though). The way they were dealing with the expensive households and other items were too rough and harsh. The packing was so poor that I had to ask repeatedly to repack the items. They said they will take care of the water purifier and dismantle it without calling the water purifier people.
When the vehicle came, I was shocked that it was a TATA 407, that too not covered, whereas even the local packers and movers I know were using EICHER Truck or TATA 608. The truck was jam packed, the things were loaded as if they were going to dispose some garbage. After loading they covered with tarpaulin sheet that too very muddy. On the next day when the vehicle reached Bangalore, I was shocked to know from the driver that only he and the cleaner, a 16-17 year old boy will be unloading the things. This was never told to me before! I was told that people from their office will come and unload the things. When I called Muthu, he said, their people will come soon, but never came.
I called Muthu and told there is no one to supervise them and I am facing difficulty in communicating with them, he told they will do it everything by their own. Also I had asked him on sending a small vehicle without cover, the reply he gave was even more strange "Sir You received the things safe, right.Then what?"
Also I had paid Rs 1800 towards insurance which they told that the details will be sent to my mail ID. I never received it and when I called Muthu, he asked me to send the email id again which I did. Its been more than a week now, I haven’t received any email from them. Also the pipes of my water purifier got damaged due to which I had to pay almost 1000 Rs. to the purifier company while installing the same at my Bangalore flat. When I asked Muthu for the insurance details for claiming the damage, he asked me to send a mail to company email ID, they will send me.(Till the day I shifted, it was his own responsibility and commitment that there will not be any damage and he will take care of the insurance!). So the 1800/- I paid went to their pocket only.
The tension I had experienced during the 6-7 hours of packing, Loading and unloading is something beyond words. I really feel that the local movers and packers, with whom I had shifted things before are more professional and deals with the items more carefully.
If you want to have a tension free shifting, go for some other packers and movers than Southern Express who are not at all professional and giving false promises. I feel if you want a tension free shifting, paying some 2500/- extra will not be a loss if you go with some good movers and packers.
I am giving 1 because there is no option for negative mark.1 is too much for them.
