My first impression of the store was like any other bazaars (hear Big Bazaar). This hypermarket is very near to where I live. It is located in one of the most congested part of Banerghatta road. Trying to enter this store in your car during peak hours would be a nightmare especially if you are coming from the opposite side of the road.
The store has sufficient parking for four wheelers and little less sufficient for 2 wheelers. The lifts are little funny. From the basement, you can only go to ground floor in the lift. From ground floor, you can only go to first or second floor. From the third floor lift, you can go to first floor I suppose. This is bad if you are old and don’t desire to walk much.
Now the good part. The store has a good collection of groceries and vegetables on the first floor. You get many kind of green leafy vegetables not available in any other stores. The attendants are responsive. Earlier, we had problems buying vegetables because the section is close to the fish and meat section. We complained about this. Next time, this was rectified.
The racks are well laid and the store is quiet. People can enjoy shopping in this store as there is nobody to shout about the offers. The vegetables section becomes a bit congested in peak hours because of the number of people shopping at the same time.
The second floor consists of cosmetics and clothes. They sell clothes of the partner MAX brands. I did not like the collection as compared to the MAX store at commercial street. Its still manageable. The cosmetics section is good. The sports section does not have much to buy.
The third floor consists of electronics and furniture. They don’t have good collection of furniture. I would prefer Lifestyle (partner) as compared to Spar for furniture. The electronics section provides the cheapest price for the items (as they claim). I haven’t compared this with other stores but the prices may be cheaper than ezone.
Overall its a good experience buying from Spar. I want to change my review about Spar. I used to like it earlier. Now they have renovated their store. Nothing wrong with it. However, I used to feel in this shop better earlier. They have reduced the number of billing counters (or spaced too close). This makes people difficult to queue up. They don’t have any facility for drinking water. One has to buy bottled water to drink. And buying a bottle of water is a hassle because you should bill it before buying (Though I don’t do it). The section having vegetable stinks of fish now. It was better earlier.
