To tell about this movie... Well, my suggestion is see this movie only after you have seen Species 1. If you see this first I dont say that you will not understand anything... but I will say that you will never want to see Species 1. The movie has been just recently shown on Star movies. That was the second time I saw that movie..
It is no way as good as species 1. The basic funda I dont understand here is that if the soil in the moon could be affected by species then why leave earth? Well, I know many of you will come out with your own very valid reasons.. Forget it.... I myself have one version of my reason and would love to stick by that...
The film starts off with astronauts going to the moon and everything out there blanks out for some time... That blanking out is actually termed as the manifestation of the human body by the alien race... (which was discovered in species 1). At the same time on Earth research work is carried out on the same specimen of Species 1 which is actually recreated in the labs.. (just like in Species 1).
The returns from the moon all except one person is infected by the Aliens...(want to know why??? watch the movie..) The story is basically on how the people on earth do kill the aliens... If you do want to know the story its better to watch it.. but once again watch it only after you have seen Species 1. infact I wont recommend your watching it also..
One more thing to add will be the end of the story has left a huge prospect for Species 3... dont know when that will come...
