I have recently shifted from Bangalore to Pune and have taken a house in a Big society. Getting a Internet connection here is a big pain.
Tata Indicom has taken the dealership for the entire society. When you go and apply for a Internet connection they charge huge security deposits and also take their own sweet time. Then after there were two representatives from tata Indicom whom came on two different days. The first person charged a security deposit and said the connection would take 7 working days.
The second person came after 3 days and said there is no security deposit and said the connection would take 3 working days. There were a lot of contradiction within the representatives. The other sad part is that they do not allow other service providers in the society. I had inquired BSNL and was told that it will take 2 months for the connection. I also faced the same problem in Bangalore. I applied for a BSNL connection and was waiting for 7 months and finally canceled the application. Hence be cautious on applying Internet connection.
