I had to buy this phone as there was choice left with me in economy cdma phones. by father uses reliance cdma connection with lg phone. recently his phone got stolen so he asked me to buy him a better phone with better features.
I saw spice c 4600 and purchased this phone.
Reason for buying this phone:
1) CDMA phones offered by Samsung and LG are very expensive as compared to their GSM phones with similar features and Nokia has almost disappeared from this market.
2) I tried to compare the phone based on the features offered in Rs 1800. I got tourch light, FM, Memory card support upto 1 GB, bigger battery than LG or Samsung phones.
3) The phone can used with any of the service provider. LG phones sold by reliance only work with reliance.
However, Within few hours of usage found the following problems:
1) the phone gets very hot after 15-20 minutes of usage.
2) phone doesnt read half of the memory card songs.
3) the caller as well as the listener will have a hard time listening to each other when any one of them is using this phone.
4) the other person also experience echo of his voice.
5) the battery is 1400 mah but lasts like 800 mah(2-3 days with normal usage).
I approached the seller with problems, he asked to contact the company. I contacted the company and they asked to visit the service center at kalkaji new delhi.
Interesting things about the service center:
1) very small room always full of people(and all of them frustrated with spice phones).
2) average waiting time is one hour
3) they will keep the phone and will return the phone 7- 30 or 45 days.
4) its the common service center for spice, max, micro max, fly.
5) most common resolution- they reset the phone and give delivery after 7 days.
6) if phone has got some part to be replaced then it takes several weeks for the same.
7) nobody could get the phone problem corrected in the first visit, you have to be regular visitor.
8) service center gets Rs 75 as told to somebody (while arguing) by the service center person for attending each phone so they would like to see the customer again and again
9) on top of all, the service center people are very rude.
Interesting things about spice phones(my experience):
1) phones which offer very good features in their price range.
2) but they are good for nothing, cheap Chinese phones are branded as spice phones.
3) most of the phones are found defective just after opening the box.
4) most of the customer I interacted with purchased the phone either one or two weeks ago
5) no support even though company claims that it has service center at all over India as most of them are untrained.
I would like to add that phone is still not working properly and there very less improvement after visiting the service center twice and wasting a lot of time there.
I would not suggest to buy phone brands like Spice or Fly. I said fly because at the service center one person came with a fly phone and service center refused to attend that phone as company has asked them to not attend some phones. Some fly phones are use & throw phones and are being sold to dealers at very cheap prices. Dealers are minting money as there are huge number phone brands available in the market and customer is totally confused.
My suggestion: Buy only reliable brands. ask others before buying any unknown brand or phone model if you dont want to waste your money.
