Spice Island- Thai & Chinese Food at its best

This beautiful restaurant tucked away in a cosy corner of the massive Le Meridien Hotel in Pune. The decor of this restaurant is real upmarket and classy but missing an authentic oriental decor. A live band duo of Willy and Tuna play beautiful numbers, perfect blend of the old and the new. Tuna has a superb voice and does a beautiful version of Gloria Gaynors’ ’’I will survive’’. They really help to spruce up your evening specially if your are celebrating with your family and friends. The service staff is very courteous and helpfull. The menu has a nice blend of Thai and Chinese. What I love about their menu is their selection of appetizer platters, which give you a taste of their best appetizers and it can be shared by two. The thai curries are the best here, aromatic mildly spiced. They make food according to your required spiciness so go ahead give them details. Among my favourites here are the phad thai(rice noodles) bai kap-raow(chicken/other meat with holy basil and chillies), crackling spinach, tod man pla(fish cakes). The Pla rad prik( whole red snapper crispy fried with sweet chilli sauce) is exquisite but my favourite dishes here are peking duck and kung yang nam jim(river prawns grilled in its shell with thai lemony fish sauce. mmmmmm. The food here is made fresh and comes steaming on the table, one of the very few places I have seen steaming steamed rice. Cost, well considering its a five star hotel restaurant, well worth it. They pamper you well and make your evening memorable. A meal for two could cost you anything between 500-1500, depending upon what you order.
