Bad experience, baggage lost and damaged

I had really bad experience with Spicejet. Lost my baggage, received it next day in damaged condition, despite marking it as "FRAGILE".... on top of that executive handling the case was very rude....


I travelled on Bagdogra - Delhi flight on Sep 12, 2009 with family. I checked in one item of luggage as FRAGILE, as it contained items that were vulnerable to be broken, basically glass items. I thought marked FRAGILE, airline will take care in handling the bag. However, when we landed at Delhi airport, this Bag was missing. We spend about an hour trying to locate our baggage and filing a report with Airline.


Later, next day we received the baggage in damaged condition. The bag was torn, Zipper was missing. When my wife opened the baggage, most of the FRAGILE items, were broken, couple of items missing from the bag. The items were all new, bought from Darjeeling and Gangtok and damaged items cost would be around Rs. 6, 000.


I then contacted a guy called Deepak Chugh who handles baggage. He was rude, impolite, spoke to me in very high tone as if yelling at me, and said "kar lo, jo kar sak te ho (Do whatever, if you can), Abhi main aaram se baat kar raha hoon (I am currently talking to you in soft tone)".


On contacting customer care / relation, they took a complaint. The lady calling me said " we don’t compensate, but will keep you informed of the outcome". She was polite and patient listener, though.


Why the heck I am interested in being updated on outcome if you are not going to compensate me???


Should I travel again on Spicejet??
