We travelled by Spice Jet from Delhi to Bangalore in August 2005 by Spice Jet. We were very apprehensive as we were told that for the new economy airlines there were long queues at the airports for checking in and there were also long delays in departures and arrivals. We did see long queues for some of the new airlines but the spice jet check in easy and without long queues. Also there was not much delay in take off ( say half an hour or so). The flight was fairly comfortable. You can carry your food/snacks on the flight and eat it. They give you a small bottle of water which one wishes could be a bigger bottle like one litre. Also they give a snack like cookies etc. However what one needs badly because of the long ( 4 hrs ) hopping flight is a hot cup of tea or coffee. This is something the Airlines should think about even if they charge for it separately. Overall for a train traveller like me upgraded to air travel it was a fairly comfortable and economical option and really worth it.
