I am not a frequent flyer like today’s corporate folks but my work requires a fair share of flying. Being self-employed, I get to choose which airlines I wish to fly - and, of course, price is a deciding factor since in my own interests I need to cut costs. However, at various times over the past five years or so, I have used all the airlines at one time or another.
Air India(formerly Indian Airlines) was a complete nightmare! Go Air was unreliable. Kingfisher was cold and snooty. Jet was arrogant. Jet Lite was also arrogant though they have no ostensible reason for an attitude like that. Indigo was acceptable and so it was kind of like my second choice - after SpiceJet. Yes, I have read a whole lot of negative reviews about SpiceJet here on Mouthshut. I am sure that things do go wrong from time to time.
Luckily, I have never had a problem with SpiceJet. I find their counter service up to the mark; their baggage handling satisfactory; their cabin crew good; their aircraft very good; and their punctuality excellent. I never eat on board so I cannot comment on their food. And though, I always book my tickets online, I do not avail of any special offers or services, so I have no complaints in that regard.At certain airports like New Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai, their gate management certainly has room for improvement. For airports where jet-bridges are not available, they tend to pack their buses to full capacity which is definitely an irritant. But all in all - SpiceJet has been my first choice for the past five years.
