I travelled SpiceJet for the reason most(may be all) of us do, cheap fare. I needed to go Delhi from Bangalore and could not afford to spend 40 hrs in train, nor 4500/- on other airlines. So at Rs.2700/- SpiceJet was the best deal I could get at that time.
Franckly I had not expectations from the airline, I just wanted them to take me to Delhi safely. But what I got was a pleasant surprise. When I reached airport, I saw some people yelling as another low cost airline GoAir flight to Delhi was delayed by a whopping 17 hrs. I prayed this doesnt happen to SpiceJet. And my prayers were answered. The lady on the counter told me the flight was on time. The lady was friendly. She told me I forgot to get my baggage scanned, which I need to do before I get the boarding pass. After scanning I got the boarding pass. Though the queue was long, the staff was efficeint enough to cater as soon as possible.
The Red Color scheme chosen for the airlines reminds me of Kingfisher Airlines. Even the air hostesses in Red were giving Kingfisher girls a good competition:). The flight took off on time and safely. I was served cookies and water free of cost, unlike Air Deccan who charge even for water. I was glad. The bad thing was I could get anything more to eat even if I am willing to pay. In Air Deccan at least you can buy something to eat. Also they dont have anything to read during the flight. What a waste.! At least they could have put Newspapers, if you dont have an iPod. the journey feels longer than it actually is.
The aircraft looked new and well maintained, though the seats could have been a bit more reclining. They used a decent room freshner. The journey was decent. The plane howerd over Delhi airport for about 35 min before landing, but I guess thats something out of control of airlines, its to do with airport authorities.
My overall experience was better than what I had expected from a low cost airline after travelling AirDeccan 4 times earlier. Its definately better than Deccan on service but on cost front, there is no beating Air Deccan I guess.:)
