I never had thought of writing about Spicejet, but after my last trip on Spicejet I felt I should write my experience with Spicejet.
Spicejet just started direct flight from Ahmedabad to Goa & so obviously it was convenient for us, else going via Mumabi is long journey. Unfortunately my travel plan clashed with India’s semifinal match with Pakistan, but had to travel as everything was booked well in advance. For the flight of 4.45pm we reached airport by 2pm to watch the match from the beginning at the airport.
After check in we were enjoying the cricket match at the airport least bothered about the flight. The flight was delayed by two hours. We were happy that we will be able to see the entire innings of India. Later the flight was rescheduled at 7.30pm. Fine so we can see the starting of Pakistan batting. At 7.30pm it was announced that flight has been cancelled due to technical snag in the aircraft.
So the focus shifted.What next? I went to the guy who was in the security check area & inquired about the next plan. He took me to Spicejet office and instructed the fellow to rebook my tickets to Goa via morning by next day early morning flight. I was happy, so I can see the match at home & it was genuine reason of not flying & rescheduling efficiently.
Next day morning again came to the airport & via Mumbai we left for Goa. On flight my wife was disappointing with one less day of stay in Goa, so I checked on my mobile about the flight changes for my return journey, which was turning out to be spending Rs.13000 more so that was out of question. Just thought of contacting Mumbai Spicejet office & requesting them to postponing by a day.
It was not in the hands of office staff or of the people at the check in counter, but they suggested to meet the Manager on duty.To my surprise my meeting with the manager was for 30 seconds and she promptly agreed to make the changes without the additional charges. Wow what a service. India had won against Pakistan & India has won with such a service.
Till date I thought this was possible in developed countries where they really care for the customers but this experience changed my views. Only bad thing about Spicejet is punctuality. My return flight from Goa to Ahmedabad was delayed by 2 hours. And ofcourse food needs to be improved.
