Stay away from this airlines- especially if you have flights with more than one leg. I was traveling with my family on a flight from Bangalore to Srinagar (via Delhi) on Dec 23th. This was my very first experience with SpiceJet and Im sorry to say that it will be my last- I would like to discourage all of you from flying with this airlines.
we experienced the worst customer service and extremely rude behavior from the ground staff in Bangalore- worst amongst them was one Mr. Ananth. To top it all, the staff kept lying and kept changing their story line about the status of the flight (delay from Bangalore and onward leg to Srinagar). I had friends traveling to Mumbai with Air India on the same day and around the same time- they had a dealy of 25 mins due to weather in BLR (as opposed to 2 hours for SpiceJet)- customers were offered free meal coupons for the inconvenience. Even a government run airlines is more efficient, prompt and courteous compared to SpiceJet. The lying by SpiceJet staff did not stop in Bangalore- it continued when we landed in Delhi (supposedly a hoping stop onward to Srinagar)- The PA system announcement, the ground staff. All of them lied and mislead the poor passengers from getting their stuff of the flight so they could be thrown off the plane and airport (since they had to cancel the onward flight to Srinagar). The staff asked people to off board and than check in again for the onward flight to Srinagar.
I persuaded the other passengers to not believe the spin/lies by the staff- it was all a ploy to get off cheaply for their mistake. Only after every one had been tricked to off boarded did they finally acknowledge that the Srinagar flight was cancelled and the passengers were left to fend for themselves until the next day (no taxi, no hotel, not even an apology, no courtesy period!!!.)
After a lot of persuasion and some stern conversation, one Mr. Nishad (Senior ground crew) helped arrange hotel for the stranded passengers......the bad experience did not stop there....the hotel (The Metro Tower in Mahipalpur) they off loaded the poor passengers to is situated in one of the worst parts of town and is probably best described as a slum....filthy place where you wouldnt feel like stepping in even with your shoes on...smelly, rotten place where only bad elements from society venture out - not a place where youd want to go personally....and certainly not a place suitable for family. Is this the kind of place SpiceJet has their crew stay at? If not, why would they have their customers stay at such a place? Needless to say, we checked out of the hotel within minutes and found ourselves another hotel closer to our definition of the civil society! We ended up paying and extra Rs7k for lodging in Delhi+ we lost Rs 8k for accommodation/activities we had already paid for in Kashmir+ it hurt loosing one day of very precious vacation time...the worst part was putting the kids through the agony of rude airlines employees and running around some very questionable parts of town/society (all courtesy SpiceJet)
SpiceJet gives all Indian airlines a bad name!! There is no excuse to be rude to customers who pay competitive prices and certainly no excuse to put up with filthy and pathetic accommodation for stranded passengers. Im glad our nightmare of traveling with SpiceJet is over. Id never want to fly with this airlines again and will definitely discourage folks in our sphere of influence to stay away from this airlines.I would encourage their customers to stop putting-up with such bad service and attitude. Im surprised these guys are still in business.......
