Caught in the Spider Web!

I went and caught the late session last night of Spiderman 2. Probably the movie I have been most looking forward to this year.

Ended up being a fantastic movie, definitetly better than the first one (which I did like). Wasn’t a big fan of the whole Green Goblin as the enemy, but Doc Ock is just done so well. Casting is perfect and the chemistry between all characters is perfectly timed. The Aunt May scenes sometimes seem as they are just a little over done, but considering we are establishing the pain that Peter Parker is holding inside that drives him to do what he does.

The fight scenes are absolutely fantastic, as well as the nicely timed comedic one liners. Star Wars’ George Lucas would have a lot to learn from Sam Raimi on how to put in something funny without making it seem drawn out. The elevator scene had me pissing myself silly.

The only part which I felt a little too exaggerated was the train stopping scene. Come on now he is not superman. In the first part he had to try a little too hard to hold the cabin car. In that context with a little depleted powers I dont think he can stop the train going at that speed. Loved the movie though. The scene where the car topples and falls on the bystanders was amazing. Definitely better than the first.
