Hanging by a Cobweb

I never thought I would walk out of a Spiderman movie, directed by Sam Raimai and I would just shrug my shoulders and say "Its ok.", but I just did that!

This time around we miss the bumbling Peter Parker(Tobey Maguire) and we see an ever confident, success gone to his head Mr. Parker and that too even before he turns evil(Don’t worry he’s only temporarily evil). Somehow I miss that never get lucky kid; which probably is one of the reason for my disappointment.

Mary Jane (Kristen Dust) is a struggling Broadway actress whom the critics in the movie( and probably in real life too will)  panned her for her lack conviction and freshness that was present in the first of the two installments. Heck, I even wanted to name this review as "will MJ ever Die?"

But other than these two acting disappointments there rest of the cast was absolutely fabulous the surprise was James Franco, who despite his lack of show in the first two installments actually pulls it off in terms of acting skill and total conviction in all situations present. The villains especially sandman is good. And only Sam can make an arch-villain look like total humanitarian.

Actually all credit does go to Sam Raimai who has directed all 3 installments and yet made it watchable, plausible and even captivating. He like a magician distracting you from all faults in the plot(and acting) and able to engross you in his marvelous story telling.

A 12+ is scored on a scale of 10 for the CGI, watch the intro background on the initial formation of the Sandman, its just fabulous. the fight scenes are good but it doesn’t give you enough time to appreciate its complexity and intricacy that went into choreographing the scenes. i.e.  a bit more slow motion was probably required or more scenes are a blink and you miss type.

the plot? yeah its somewhere there, but its mostly on the lines of Not everyone is interested about you, Have good friends and Don’t anger people who know who you are. Trust me this is it.

On the whole the fight scenes are good, the villains are good and a most definitely a family movie. Go watch it once but you don’t need to do advance booking for it, as it ain’t that great either.
