When the srilanka airways came up with an irresistable offer couple of months back, to stay in srilanka, well we could not resist it. we were a little sceptical in the begining, but then me and my friend decided to just take the offer and boy what a holiday it was.
we stayed in a hotel called Mount Lavinya in Colombo, with a view of the sea. its a fantastic old colonial style 5 star hotel. then we moved on to Kandy ( a hilly terrain). The climate was too good. mornings rainy, afternoons pleasant and evenings cool. then we stayed in a hotel at the Negamboo beach, about 40 kms from Colombo.
Srilanka is truly paradise on earth. the people are friendly (at first they mistake you to be Sinhalese, then when you dont understand what they are trying to tell you, they ask you..u from India or Pakistan??!!) the food is lovely especially the fish and beer, though a little expensive. Its better to enquire the price first rather than be ripped of at the end. The 5 star hotels are a lot more economical than the roadside eateries (especially the ones on the Gaul Face, opposite the Taj Samudra)!!
I would recommend Srilanka for anybody looking for a good holiday.
