This is all about my personal experience with Sri Ramachandra Hospitals, Porur - Chennai, popularly called as SRMC.
SRMC is considered as our family hospital, as most of my family members have undergone treatment here at some point of time, including myself in the past 20 years.The hospital not only provides treatment to the patients but also offers excellent education to medical graduates. Honestly speaking SRMC is certainly one of the best hospitals in the world, serving people with great care and dedication. The doctors are highly knowledgeable and trustworthy. They follow stringent processes and standards in medical care to ensure right care and quality of service to people. I would certainly call this hospital as "a Temple For Cure" and the hospital doctors here are of god’s messengers.
Quality of Doctors:
SRMC has got some of the world’s best doctors. Their treatment approach is absolutely transparent without hide and seeks. They are trained to maintain history of patients, complete documentation of treatment given such that the patients will be taken care even during the absence of the concerned specialist. This will also help other doctors (when visiting for other health conditions) to understand the patient at a glance. The doctors are highly innovative and follow best practices in medicine. The competency level of doctors are consistently upgraded by involving them in research and new challenges.
One of the amazing thing is SRMC doctors are not like Normal doctors, who burden patient with a huge list of medical tests and examinations. The doctors are efficient enough to visualize patient’s condition by feeling their pulse itself. They recommend the tests only if it is obsolutely necessary. I have seen patients visiting from various part of India and abroad. It indicates the reputation that SRMC has earned. The only area of improvement I would recommend for the doctors are their availability, sometimes it will be hard to find the concerned doctor due to their surgical appointment, research engagements or other medical activities, however the assistant staffs are always made available to attend the patient without compromising treatment quality. No wonder the key doctors are busy all time here, it shows their skillset.
Staff Attitude:
In my past 10 years of relationship with the hospital, I haven’t seen a Doctor or a Nurse treating patients with arrogance or ignorance. The doctors are calm and composed and shown great level of attention in clarifying doubts. The nurses are "Down to earth angels". During my father’s surgical treatment, their care was incredible. No matter its day or night, they payed close attention to us. The front desk and non-medical staffs are good too. The house keeping are prompt enough to ensure the hospital free from dusts, bad odour and other bio-hazards. As a summary every staff in this hospital does their job perfectly. Another notable thing is despite of all great care, there is no corruption or bribing exists.
Infrastructure and Equipments:
The hospital’s infrastructure is a well planned one. SRMC is located in the out skirts of chennai thus freeing from noise and environmental pollution. The hospital is surrounded by a green environment with plenty of free space and fresh air. The eight story building has dedicated blocks for out patients and in patients. There are dedicated departments for human physiology that covers various organs and its relevant ailments. The hospital has state-of-art medical equipments and healthcare devices that are mostly imported from western countries. There are about 12 operation theatres in the building having world class facilities. The Hospital has internationally acclaimed Laboratory and Imaging science department with which all inpatients and outpatients are diagonosed. The rooms are modern, clean, spacious, centrally airconditioned and well maintained. The rates are affordable too for all classes of people. For instance a Deluxe room (private ward) costs 2700 Rupees per day, is tad cheaper than any big hospitals in its category. The quality is unmatched. There is also a seperate block for poor patients or those who are economically below poverty line, charges for them are absolutely in subsidised rates, sometime even for free. The hospital also offers excellent education to medical graduates and nurses. Infact SRMC is not just a hospital but also a Medical college that builds quality doctors for quality future.
Other Facilities:
The campus has a huge canteen which offers south indian, north indian and chinese food at a nominal price. The taste and quality of food is awesome. The parking lot can accomodate hundreds of cars and bikes all at once with minimal parking fees. There are workshipping areas for different religion and two hindu temple inside the campus. There are prayers conducted daily here for the welfare and quick recovery of patients. There are play areas for kids too.
Conclusion:
Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre is an excellent hospital for treating our ailments. Based on my personal experience, SRMC is purely a service oriented hospital rather money oriented. There are couple of times I reached the emergency room here to check few things, however the hospital didn’t charge me anything for emergency consultation and basic tests which is great in today’s world. I have seen hospital looting people’s money in the name of treatment and tests but SRMC is free from all those things. The Hospital management is so powerful to monitor the quality of doctors and staffs by gathering feedbacks and implementing them promptly. The management also reviews the performance and efficiency of labs, health devices and other aspects such that world class service is ensured.
I have seen my relatives completely cured here irrespective of how bad their condition was. Even in Emergency / ICUs, the death rate is almost zero or rare in SRMC. Though this hospital is in the outskirts of chennai, it is worth reaching there to get right care and cure. Perhaps this is the cheapest hospital in price for the services offered but great in Health care.
I would strongly recommend this hospital for any sort of human conditions. I wish this hospital a very long life and continue to serve people with same attitude and care for many many years.
