As being recent alumni of the civil engineering department at Sri Venkateshwara College of the batch of 2020, I am really honest and truthful in the review I am writing.
Initially, when I joined college back in 2016, I was really scared of my engineering journey as I lacked the confidence of pursuing it due to the previous history of my pre-university marks which were very base-lined. But today after graduating I am pursuing my masters at a very esteemed Institution at Pune NICMAR (national Institute for construction management and research). This is the level of fine-tuning what the college did to me. The college in itself broke our mindset barrier of being a very strict one and was really student-friendly, they addressed all the needs of what a graduate needs to be industry-ready post-graduation by providing us with all the necessary skills. Be it AUTO CADD classes, field visits, industrial visits, industry experts lectures, BIM classes, etc. And many others which are the most sought out skills required by the industry.
Coming onto academics, the lecturers are really friendly and are very clear in what they deliver. They made sure that every student performed optimally. Extra attention as in special classes was conducted to students who required special attention in subjects they needed. The portions were up-to-date and completely revised by the end of the semester and notes were provided for each subject tailor-made by the lecturers which could be easily understood and interpreted making the concepts easy and clear. The lecturers are really impactful. They guide the students in all aspects, from aiding the students to look for a job, taking up competitive exams to guiding us for masters, they really help us set a pace post-graduation. On a personal note, I was persuaded by our faculty to take up the course of infrastructure finance, development, and management ( IFDM) at NICMAR. they helped me provide all the information and the resources necessary to take up the exam, guided me, and helped me crack the exam and get the course. I am really grateful to the faculty for guiding me and helping me in my career.
Coming on into extra-curricular activities and sports, the college is extravagant in organising an array of intra and inter-college fests. We organize Kalavaibhava, an extravagant fest spread over three days, which is attended by more than 3000+ students across Bangalore. I was really lucky to be the main host of the event, celebrities like Nikhil Chinnappa, Rahul Barkar, Vadu Dixit, Kangana Ranaut, Siddarth Malhotra, Upendra, etc are some prominent figures attending our fests. I was really humbled to share the stage with such eminent personalities. Inter department fests, ethnic days, etc, and many more events glorify the college regularly. There are several clubs as well such as IGNITE, a technical group formed by the civil department which organises many seminars, events, and other such activities. These clubs impart a sense of team spirit, knowledge, and amazing management skills to the students. Every department at our college boasts of such fine clubs.
Coming onto sports, the college is really appreciative of students into sports and provides them with all the support and encouragement. I have represented the college in powerlifting in VTU twice, placing 6th and 4th respectively. College also organises annual sports meet where faculties, as well as students, participate and cherish those events.
Overall SVCE, is an amazing college to be in, it has helped me become a better individual than before, helped me grow beyond barriers. It will commit to doing so with every individual who is a part of it and make society a better one by creating reformed individuals.
