School is the base of the so called foundation of “life”…If the base is strong then no need to worry about the structure
Talking about schools, I don’t feel there is any school in Bandra or Bombay which is as good as Stanislaus, face this fact whether you like it or not…The name “Stanislaus” in itself is a big name to pronounce but it has a great history, be it sports or any other curricular activity.
Lets look at all the aspects of Stanislaus which makes it the best school…
School History
Firstly Stanislaus began as an orphanage in the mid 1860’s. But Stanislaus today is a fully equipped and modern school, famed both for its academic excellence and its achievements on the sports field. It is one of the best Jesuit school in India. Situated in a fast changing suburb, it has a significant role to play in the education of youth of the area. his is a 140 year old school but does not look like.
The Staff
I personally feel that I was lucky to have a principal like Fr.Lawrie Ferrao SJ. He was and is one of the best principals that Stanislaus has ever had, not that others were not good, but Lawrie had a bit of modern thinking in him.
The teachers are also as good as the principal. Again I repeat “if the base is strong then the structure will be strong” It is often said that teachers are your mothers outside home and when I am or I was at Stanislaus I really felt that. Each teacher has a different style or pattern of teaching as expected and teachers are also not lacking behind in doing over-time by helping the weaker students after school.
Academic Excellence
Every year 195+ SSC Students clear Stanislaus, but none end up in the merit list.Yeah this is shocking but last year on of our stanislite almost landed up in the merit list, but fell behind by just a mere percent. Now you know what difference a couple of marks makes. Out of so many students that appear for the Board Exams Stanislaus Pass % is about 98% i.e. out of the 195 students that appear for the exams only a few, maybe 3-4 students fail in March, but they take the second chance in October with both the hands to pass the class and the school.
Sports
Stanislaus has such a great history in sports that it would take me days to complete this review. Let’s analyze the last few years.
2002-2003
I was in the 8th standard and was not active in sports but my school was, not only in football or hockey but also in TT. Stanislaus went to Belgaum and brought home the trophy and continued the good form by winning the MSSA league.
Abhijit Ballani and Samay Kakade played their part in TT by taking school to new heights in this not so much familiar sport at Stanislaus.
2003-2004
This was the first year when I participated in sports at Stanislaus. I had taken football over cricket because football was more encouraged at Stanislaus. I did not disappoint personally scoring 8 goals in the first 5 games but that was not enough and we finished 3rd in the league. (U-14 group). The U-16 group also lost the league and was finalists in the knockout.
2004-2005
10th Standard and the pressure was on me along with my teammates to perform as every year. We had to give 101% on the field as we were the senior men. We battered all the teams in the league by winning 3-0, 4-1 and also 6-0.But that was not enough and we finished runners up…I scored 3 goals in 9 matches.
In the knockout tournament we had an easy run in till the semis when we played the winners of the league. We were leading until the last minute when they equalized. We finally won the game on penalties 4-2.We won the finals 1-0 and I was the man of the match playing in an altogether different role of the holding mid-fielder after playing as a striker in the early days.
Stan Musikal aur Aaj
This was the live show conducted by our teachers on our school grounds and it took us more than 3 months to complete this GRAND SHOW.Tickets were available at the school office and this show was regarded as one of the best shows conducted by any school in the last 80 years.
School Anthem
with great full hearts we sing your praise, dear school and joy and pride …
……And we are PROUD TO BE YOUR BOYS…
Yeah, I am proud to be a stanislite. The school anthem is what I like the most along with the motto “ Born for Greater Things…
Conclusion
This is one of the best schools in Bombay and any parents looking out for schools for their sons, then I would recommend a visit here.
A great history for a 140 year old school…This is one of the best school without a doubt.
Now after having completed my school, I can hold my head high and tell everyone with pride that “I was a STANISLITE.
