For anyone who would want to be an all rounder – in studies, extracurricular activities, and co-curricular activities – Xavier’s is ‘the’ destination. It has some unique characteristics, which enhance the academic ambience of the institution.
Dedicated, enthusiastic, and experienced teachers take great effort in ensuring that every student gets personal attention. Teachers not only impart textbook knowledge but also encourage students to do their own reference work - from a well-equipped library. Students are also encouraged to work on team projects, and participate in field excursions. The ‘Honours Program’ challenges students to work on research projects. Many departments, such as the Zoology department, have many research papers published in leading journals. Imagine yourself graduating as a co-author of a research paper, having worked on some original research.
Talk of extra-curricular activities and Xavier’s provides ample opportunities for students to display their talents and to build on their organizing skills.
There is ’Malhar’, the mega college fest. It is a two-day fest, but students start planning for it months in advance. Malhar attracts participation from colleges from all around India. In recent years, Malhar has participants from foreign colleges.
Then there is the ‘Social Service League which aims at promoting adult education and preventing child delinquency.
If you are interested in Indian classical music, then Xavier’s has the ‘Indian Music Group’, stocked with thousands of music CDs and records.
Students who want to know more about subjects outside the curriculum such as advertising etc. can participate in the Learning for Life Programme.

- The Xavier’s alumni fraternity is spread all around the world. It includes famous personalities such as Nana Chudasma, Ratan Tata, Anil Ambani, Sunil Gavaskar, Shabana Azmi, Rajdeep Sardesai, Soli Sorabjee – to name a few. The support that Xavier’s still garners from its ex-students is amazing.
Xavier’s has being given a 5 – star rating by The National Assessment and Accreditation Council. Over the years this Institution has improved and is now rated among the 5 best colleges in India. I am proud to be a Xavierite having spent 3 years of my life in this institution.
