Xavier's you gave me wings to fly

I entered Xaviers as a timid, shy and scared girl. I was in awe of it n wud hide myself in the library amidst books. I would never venture into the foyer for fear of being laughed at. The GCR (girls common room) was my haven, from where I could catch a glimpse of the woods and the hostel. Sometimes I would sit under the shade of the trees in the woods.

As time passed by, I met some great people, those who would become my closest pals, people from whom I learnt so much. I remember Ms. Verona our English teacher who would always give us some valuable lessons in life and make classes so interesting. During my final years as an Economics student, I had wonderful Profs like Mrs. Hermione Salazr, Prof Mathew and Prof Cajetan. I came to love economics and actually understood its importance.

As soon as college would start in June, we would start preparing for Malhar. The ’’interviews’’ for various department would take place. There was so much energy everywhere during Malhar.

At Xaviers besides studies, we were encouraged to participate in a number of activities and join various groups like the AICUF, the SSL, the IMG etc. There were exhibitons held and blood donation camps. We had project care where we would spend 2 days with the street kids and make their day memorable organising games and programmes for them.

Xaviers has 2 libraries to be more precise.. the lending library and the reference library.... You can find all varities of books out there...you can rest in the comfortable chairs and read to your heart’s content ann even catch a few winks.

Sports is encouraged too out there. If you wan to play Basketball or volley ball you got to get up and reach college early by 6 for practises.

We celebrate the. Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, on the 31st July and our college day i.e the Feast of St. Francis Xavier on 3rd of December. Both these days are celebrated with gusto and are attended in large numbers by the alumni too.

My days out here were the best and I still have a part of Xaviers left in me....Dont think I can forget it.
