My experience -
I hold two other credit cards from HSBC credit card and ICICI bank credit card . ICICI is not free, so thought of trying this new free manhattan credit card.
But their practises are really bad , (worse than others) and seem to be made to trick people .
They dont have a online portal where you can login and regularly check the status of the card payments. They seem to use this lack of transperancy to trick people.
Their system errors make you pay interest
They have this option of paying different amount of money to the primary and secondary cards... But they also say very clearly behind their card statement ’’ if the breakup is not mentioned on the card , then the payment will be split among the cards in the most beneficial way’’ . (in case of other cards , they adjust the payment against the total amoun that is due.)
I paid Rs 8000 that was due more that one week ahead of the due date.They charged me Rs 250 late fee and interest of Rs 250 inspite of that !! And when I call them up they ask me to call back after 3 days !! they say that thats the round trip period !!
I had a to pay manhattan Rs 8000 on both my cards (Rs 1000 primary and Rs 7000 supplementary cards) , which are linked to each other. (all figures are appx.)
I payed Rs 8000 one week before the due date using visa online money transfer , to my primary card.
They didnt transfer the remaining 7000 to my supplementary card until the many days had passed after the last due date !!! That was 15 days after I payed the whole amount !!
They charged me Rs 250 late fee and interest of Rs 250 on the supplementary card because of their own fault !! I had actually called their customer service representative before I made the payment , and that guy had also told me that if I make the whole payment , I dont need to break up the amounts.
Whats worse is that they even charged Rs. 0.70 on my primary card , even though the complete payment was made on the primary card. And they had the nerve to say that the interest on the primary card was charged because of system error !!!
They have rolled back the charges on the primary card. But they havent done that for the secondary card. And they need 3 days to resolve this issue. ... A lot of my time is getting wasted because of this !!!
