I got a life time manhattan card which I have cancelled now. I have been holding HSBC and citibank cards for over -3 years resp. and rate them far far better than manhattan cards.
The following are the week points of manhattan cards :
- Payment if made by drop box cheques need to be made well in advance otherwise they charge you heavily saying they didn’t receive the cheque on time. you would have no proof of the same. I was charged in my very first payment.
If you call up the customer service guys they will reverse your late payment charges but there will be still a delta which will on your amount. This will be the interest for the late period the tax/service charge on this. I did this too and still there was some delta amount charged by the back after the reversal.
Location of drop boxes is also not very useful and easily locatable unline other banks.
Phone banking agents are not at all customer friendly and never try to understand us they only think in terms of their bank side.
My recomendation is don’t go for this card even if its for free you will have free trouble all your life.
