When I applied for a loan I found that there is an outstanding amount against my name in CIBIL report. I was just wondering how could that be? When checked with CIBIL I came to know it was registered by Standard Charted bank against card . I called the customer service agent last year and they agreed it is a mistake from their side because they sent the card to my old address. Biggest joke is I never used the card and outstanding balance was Rs 6600/= . I told them I had moved to my house 4 years back and didn’t get any call / letter from the bank, I had asked for change of address in my previous place.
They sent me an e-mail stating that there is no balance from my end and everything is clear.
This year I thought of checking my credit history with CIBIL and this record was still reflecting in their database. So I called the Stand Chart Customer service and every time they will say we will send you the clearance letter in a day or 2. Nothing happened. Finally after 6-7 follow-ups with different agents(Kavita, Vipul, etc very arrogant folks) they sent me the e-mail and hardcopy to my current address stating that there no outstanding balance and CIBIL clearance process has been initiated.
Guess What?
I thought of checking with Standard Charted today regarding the CIBIL clearance agent is asking me to pay that money. He is saying bank has incurred some losses and they want recover money from customers now J Once I pay the money then only they will remove the name from CIBIL.
Gimme a break!
As per the RBI norms banks are not suppose to do this. I’m aware of this 2 years back only. There was a recent CNBC article on this.
I hope some justice will be done to customers
