I was offered a Stanchart Gold Card for free for the first year. I used it for a year and got it cancelled over phone as I didnt want to pay the subsequent year’s high fee. At that time the Customer Care respresentive told me that since I had no pending dues, my card cancellation request has been taken and my card would be cancelled.
After 8 months I hear from StanChart that I have dues pending as I am not paying my next year’s annual fee and apart from that they quote other things as well:
They say there is a card cancellation charge ! This is absurd as the Customer Care says there is no cancellation fee.
They say you cannot cancel the card over phone. Which the Customer care says you can !
If you need some settlement pay some amount of money .. each person have me a different figure each time.
I would suggest people who are interested in taking StanChart credit card to be cautious as they trap you when you go in for a card cancellation and charge a high amount or else make your life miserable !!
