The incident below is a little bit old but it may be useful to members unless Stan Chart has made drastic changes to their service
I used my Stan Chart credit card to purchase an Air Ticket and had to cancel it subsequently.
After cancellation, I immediately sent copy of credit refund slip to their office so that the refund can be reflected to my account. Months pass, I made the payment in full and no sign of refund. By then I have travelled to overseas on a long term assignment.
I managed to get their Fax Number and faxed them a letter. No response. I called them up (international calls) and the reply was that the Merchants banker might be taking longer to process it. When I pointed out that the Merchants Banker too is StanChart they said that they would look into it !
After a series of Fax, phone calls and emails (by that time I have cancelled my card) and a threat to go to Media, I finally get a response that they have been able to trace the amount and posted it back to my account. Ah ! peace. But wait, I need to get it back. Called up their Customer Service and requested to send a cheque to me. A lady replies that she can see some amount in my account but first need to investigate why there is a credit balance and then can issue the cheque.
To cut a long story short, I somehow got hold of email address of one of their big shots from their parent company in UK and through his intervention, got my money back just in 18 months !
