Not a good experience

I had two of their cards. They missed the statement for two consecutive months (and I have strong doubts that it was done on purpose).


Then two months later I received statement with late charges and what not. When I called them, they showed neither courtesy or any willingness to solve the matter.


I sent them the cheque for full amount that was due (without late fees and renewal charge as I had no intention to continue my relationship with them). This cheque was not presented at my bank and I received statement with further late charges and all.


Calling them didn’t help yet again. Then came the calls from their recovery agents who are nothing but goons.


I asked them to come and collect the cheque from my home with a fixed time appointment. No one turned up.


I went to their branch and deposited the cheque personally. Despite that they sent me a legal notice causing tremendous tension once again.


Somehow I got rid of this, tore the cards in four and flushed them down the drain.


I feel that SCB earns more by way of charging late fees by intentionally missing statements. Looks like mere offering credit and earning good money thus isn’t good enough for them.


After so many years of excellent relationship with them, they had no willingness to retain me as their customer. And their phone staff isn’t the worst I have come across till date.


My experience with Citi and Amex has been best till date.
