Say no to Manhattan

Though I have not used a Manhattan card personal, I had a very bad experience while applying for the card.

First, I receive a call from a telebanking exec. asking me to apply for a manhattan card. After a long talk, I finally agree to apply for it. They promptly sent a guy with an application. He just wanted my visiting card and nothing else. I filled the application and gave my visiting card. The wait begins.

After 2-3 weeks I receive a letter from Manhattan asking me to fax my salary slip with my designation. I was given a fax number which never works. Finally I got hold of the guy who took my application and explained him the issue. He gave me an email address and asked me to email a copy of my salary slip. I informed him that my company doesn’t indicate the designation on the salary slip and instead I can send him another letter give n by my HR stating my designation. He said that is not an issue, the salary slip would suffice. The wait continues.

After a month, I receive a call from Manhattan to verify my details. They even knew my previous address though I have not mentioned it anywhere. I guess they do have a database with all the details.

Nothing happened for another 2-3 weeks and finally I receive a letter stating that my parameters don’t match and my application is rejected.

I got disguisted with the whole thing and applied for a HSBC life time free card immedietly which I got in 2 weeks. I have been using it for more that 6 months now without any issues.

I still keep getting this telemarketing calls from Manhattan and I continue to give them my piece of mind.
