Had given my dell laptop with a display issue where either the display inverter or ccfl tube needed to
be replaced. This was based upon my own research on the net. But Staples repair centre told me
that I need to replace the whole display costing me a whopping Rs 7000. He didnt even tell me
what the problem was just kept telling me that there is a display issue and it needs to be replaced.
When I told him that I had done my research and the only two possible issues could be either with
the inverter or the ccfl because the display itself was not broken, he said because yours is a LED
display it needs to be replaced it cant be repaired. I knew that my laptop had a LCD display and
not a LED display because I had seen a video on youtube which showed how the LCD and LED
displays looked and I had already opened my laptop to ascertain what kind of display it was.
I told him that mine was a LCD display and I had already checked it by opening it. Then he changed
his stance and told me that the CCFL tube which lights up the display is gone and he cant replace
it because the last time he replaced it for a customer the problem reoccurred.
So that means Staples repair service is really incompetent on repairing your laptops. All they know
is how to replace parts. They want to cheat unsuspecting and unknowing public of their money by
quoting that the whole display has a problem and cant be repaired while the real reason is that
they dont have the knowledge or the skill to do the job correctly.
I paid the 299 Rs for their service and took back my laptop. In effect it was 299 Rs wasted because
I didnt get any value for my money. Probably if I had given it elsewhere I would have a working
laptop by now. The only value that came out of it was the lesson to avoid Staples from now on.
If you can, please avoid Staples laptop repair service. Do you research about the problem because
there are a lot of people who will cheat you. There are a lot of websites with videos explaining how
to resolve a laptop issue.
