I generally prefer Hypercity or Spencers but since we were at the Phoenix Market City Mall in Pune we decided to pick up a few stuff from Star Bazaar and lets just say that it was not a pleasant experience overall.
They have a Deli inside which is a good thing but the person at the Deli counter was basically billing groceries and other items for his pals. He was casually going through the motions with dollops of small talk and in no particular hurry whatsoever to keep the line moving. I had to spend around 20 min in line to order a pastry.
Then there were the employees finishing their shifts rushing to the Deli counter to bill their groceries basically making a mockery of the concept of a queue.
Then there were the ones on whom education got wasted. The ones that have a tendency to bill like they do it at railway stations. I am assuming that it is the responsibility of the cashier to ensure that people at the front of the queue are billed first as against some idiot who pokes his hand through waving a few notes.
Another major concern was the coding used for items on the Bills. Lif Ha Re is supposed to be Lifebuoy Handwash refill and so on and so forth. Atleast get the first name in complete so that the customer can get an idea of what he is being billed for.
Half the billing counters were closed even though it is Diwali season and to top it all I had to do my own bagging.
