Another Star in the sky

Before anything could be said about the channel itself, let me tell you why this review, is the one you should read. This review has been written after a lot of actual scrutiny of the subject.

Yes people, ever since my vacations started, I have been devoted to the task of vigilantly eyeing the television, and guess what? It was FUN. Star one can finally give to the currrent television scene what it has been lacking for the past few years-Wholesome entertainment.

To be truthful, the best thing about the channel is that it isn’t decked up with emotional garbage, or stereotypes. It is more like a breath of fresh air. It mainly has weekly one hour programmes, with only about two daily ones.

Right from, the hilarious Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, starring satish shah, to Bluff master hosted by Vinod shikhawat, Star one is loaded with wholesome treat for typical couch potatoes.

Well, if you are convinced and are running off to your living rooms right while I reach the next line, here’s some info on each of the programmes:

SARABHAI VS SARABHAI

ing Satish Sha and some well known names, whose names I dont know ABOUT-The quintessential socialite family with a middle class bahu. Highly recommended just in case you have forgotten how to laugh.

SPECIAL SQUAD

An absolutely rocking challenge to sony’s CID. Though it belongs to the same genre, Special squad is definitely more stylish and rich in detail.Look out for the main characters-interesting in their own ways

INSTANT KHICHDI A continuation of sorts of Star’s hugely popular khichdi, where the parekhs have turned billionaires overnight. Ribtickling one liners. Really, if you were wondering if god ever created anything more stupid than ekta kapoor, maybe you should tune into instant khichdi. The parekhs could answer that question(making u laugh in the process).

PYAR KI KASHTI MEIN

Genuine time pass material. Its about how, Mrs Malhotra and Mr Pillai, try to bring their son and daughter to like each other, aboard a cruise liner while the two can’t stand each other. With other distractions, a suspicious cruise manager, and a wannabe hifi couple thrown in, PKKM makes for good time pass. Don’t miss the breathtaking shots of the cruise liner, which is absolutely amazing.

DIL KYA CHAHTA HAI Seriously funny. It tells the story of four friends a playboy, a nerd, a confused RJ, and a happily(er..) married man. Someone pass the popcorn please.

HOTEL KINGSTON A personal favourite. It is about a once famous hotel which has constantly deteriorated thereafter. How its staff headed by the dynamic manager Vishwamitra khelkar(realllyyyyy cute) bring back its lost glory forms the rest of the story. The first episode was impeccably directed.

HE-MAN Ha ha ha ha. Oops, just because it is hosted by Shekhar suman doesnt mean, it is a comedy, at least the directors did not intend to make it one, but lets face it, this is one programme which managed to fall flat on its face. Its all about giving it back to the guys, trying to make it as wicked as possible. But for god’s sake why on earth would anyone want to watch pot bellied guys dancing in purple satin boxers??? Avoid it, unless you’d like to watch dumb men making fools out of themselves.

BLUFF MASTER A ’’Catch me if you can ’’ game show. Okay! Interesting.

REMIX Its your typical high school drama with a difference. It is about a hifi school for the rich and the famous, with all the masala included. Maurya high has its own share of rivals, gossip mongers, tom boys, popular gals and not to mention a unique charm.

THE GREAT INDIAN COMEDY SHOW

If you are one of those people who enjoy watching spoofs, this is the show for you. it has in its basket, a store of india’s best comedians, who keep you laughing.

Well that should enlighten you about yet another star added to the parivaar. Lets end it this way, despite the inexorable, innumerable re-runs, star one is here to stay.
