I love Star Wars because its about human values and emotions. What inspires me are the Jedis and what frightens me that even Jedis are vulnerable to the influence of the Dark Side.
Till Now
Attack of the Clones starts from where Episode one ends. Master Kanube takes Anakin as the disciple and grooms him to be a Jedi. Kanube is overly critical of Anakin (Or thats what Anakin thinks) and is portrayed as a rebel. He is arrogant and impatient. He is in love with Amidala, whom he first met when he was a kid. Amidala is as beautiful as ever and Anakin has grown up to be a handsome young man.(or boy?)
The Plot and Characters
The plot revolves around the assassination attempt on Amidala and Jedi Master Kanube and Anakin Skywalker getting assigned to protect her. The movie starts when Amidata who is now a Senator in the Republic narrowly escapes an assassination attempt when she comes to Coruscant to attend a meeting of Galactic Senate.
I know am repeating this, but its required. Anakin is portrayed as a impatient and arrogant young man and you can tell that he has some dark shades. Subsequently in the movie, events happen which slides him further to the dark side.
The Jedi come to know that the assassination is orchestrated by a Bounty Hunter, about whom; no one knows much. The Jedi council decides that Kanube would continue tracking down the bounty hunter and Anakin gets the first independent assignment of his life, taking Amidala to Naboo and protecting her. Here, amidst picturesque surroundings of Naboos Lake District, his desire to have Amidala or his desire of having a relationship with Amidala is portrayed wonderfully, the pain and the frustration of not having her even though she is so near.
Anakin is also going thru another emotional problem, his mother. He has not met his mother since he left her long ago. He is experiencing constant nightmares about the fate of his mother. He decides to go and find her, and Amidala decides to follow him.
Master Obi Wan Kanube, in the course of finding the mysterious bounty hunter, lands up at Kamino, an obscure planet whose existence is not even in the Jedi archives. He finds that Kaminoean are making a clone army, which was commisioned by the Republic long ago. He faces the bounty hunter, but looses him. But, manages to reach Geonosis where he is captured, but manages to send a transmission to Anakin. Here we are introduced to another powerful Dark Jedi Master, Count Dooku.
So the questions in your head would be:
Who is the mysterious Bounty hunter and why he is trying to kill the Senator (Amidala)?
What happens to Anakien mother and how it affects him?
Who is count Dooku and why he is against the Republic?
Is Master Kanube saved from the clutches of Count Dooku?
Does the relationshiop between Anakin & Amidala blossom into love? (Its the first time in SW saga that Love is given some importance)
What happens to the massive Clone army created for Republic?
Go and watch the movie, it wouldnt disappoint you. I missed the fights with the Saber, which are not many but ok. The various world of Naboo, Kaminoo, Tatoonie are better then the worlds in earlier movies and George should be happy now that he can share his fantasies better with the world. All the characters from the saga including Yoda still manage to capture your full attention.
The Cast & Characters
Wan Kenobi - Ewan McGregor
Amidals - Natalie Portman
Anakin - Hayden Christensen
Count Dooku - Christopher Lee
You can feel the chemistry between all the characters and all of them suit their roles very well. Christopher Lee was a surprise though, I know that Count Dooku is evil, but is he?? Overall, its a very good cast.
The background score is the one you can identify with, and am not writing much about it.
Highlights
1.The chase - Kanube and Anakin chasing the assasin thru the great city of Coruscant
2.Kamino - Clone Production - The world and the inhabitants and the clone production are shows beautifully.
3.Fight - Between the Jedi masters and the Droid army of Count Dooku at Geonosis. It was terrific.
4.Fight - Between Yoda & Count Dooku
Overall I feel that SW Episode II is not to be missed. Even if you are not a Die hard SW fan, still you can enjoy the movie, it’s a great entertainer. So go and watch it now. It puts the right stepping stone for Episode III and you can feel that lots of things are going to happen now.
Peace
