Earlier I had one saving account with Axis Bank. But I had a desire to have an account with State Bank of India. Since I did not have any residential proof or identity proof( dont have voter card or DL) which was required to open an account with SBI, I never approached them. I did have my PAN Card, but when I consulted with my friends they said PAN Card is not enough. Some banks were not accepting that as identity proof as nothing was there on the card than the name and the DOB.
Still I thought lets give one try. And I approached the bank. I got the required form. I went to the bank with my PAN Card . The person at the counter asked me to meet the manager as I did not have the required documents. The manager was so nice. He asked me about my background detail. When I told him that I am residing on rent for five years, he gently asked me to get the electricity bill of the owner and their voter card. Within half an hour I cam with those two documents. He approved my application and forwarded to other person. That person when checked my application said with this much of documents I can not open an account in the bank. When I said the manager has given approval, he checked the form for signature and he also put the approval signature.
The process was so easy and the personas there were so kind and gentle.
