I was having a savings account and PPF account with SBI(Hadapsar Branch)
Tired with the attitude of the staff and the messy scene I always used to get to see there, I decided to close my account in SBI.(which I did some 8 months back)
This time I wanted to transfer some money to my PPF account(its tax time na.:)So I visited the branch to drop a cheque for my account. Just out of curiosity I asked if I can transfer money to my PPF account online(thru ICICI). The answer was positive. But going ahead that guy also told me that you can opt for OnlineSBI facility for your PPF account.
This means I can see all the details of my PPF account online and can also transfer funds to my PPF account. I was pleasantly surprised to hear the online facility.
That was not the end, I asked them how should I opt for it. They said that just fill up a form.(which was the most simple form I ever filled up) and then I again asked when will I get the username and password. The guy told me "you will get it right now".Now that was the real surprise for me
They handed over a Kit to me(containing the username/pwd) and within next 2 working days, I was able to login to the account and see the details.
Now I use online facility for HDFC, ICICI and IDBI too.but the SBI online experience was fanstastic. I will rate it at second position(below ICICI)
Never expected such thing from SBI.but I must say.they are improving.
In fact I was so amazed with this.that a thought of opening a savings account came to my mind .(but then I controlled my feelings).
But who knows, considering the online facility they have, I might go for it.
