This is just a general rant about how things are. I wanted some money transferred to PPF the other day. I was REALLY rushed that day, just went to SBI to do this, thought how long could it take. I called them before going and asked if any papers were necessary, they said "only checkbook", so that’s what I took. When I went, the little idiot gives me a form. I’m trying to put my OWN MONEY INTO PPF, and I have to FILL OUT PAPERWORK! OK, so I was very irritated, and then it turns out, they need my PPF account NO! I didn’t bring it with me, so I told him that, and SAID I had called prior to coming.
"Na, eta form, eta bhorte hobe". OK, so it’ll take them 3 secs to get the PPF no. out of the computer, why can’t they do that? The tone in which he said it "us clerks rule, this is Bengal, YOU have to do things OUR way". Ishould have punched his lights out then and there.
"Na apni dosh, ponero minute boshun, tar pore korbo". THIS GUY HAS A JOB AT A BANK! HE SHOULDN’T BE A SWEEPER THERE! I said "Na aami dosh minute boshte parbo na". And a fight was almost about to break out.
Finally someone else at the bank I know intervened, thank goodness, got my account no from the computer, and the whole thing went speedily, only had to fill out 3 things on the form.
The whole point of these folks is keeping people like these employed. WHICH HAS TO BE STOPPED. Affirmative action has gone too far.
I will shortly be switching to another bank.
