Gem of a Book: A must read

A Gem of a book.-A Must read for those with an Entrepreneurial streak.

The Inspiring book deals with 25 IIM Ahmedabad grads who chose to scrap it rough and set their own businesses, Rather than join t MNCs with 6 figure salaries and liberal perks. They were interviewed by Rashmi Bhagat an IIMA alumnus herself and an entrepreneur.

They had one thing in common -Their Big Dreams, slogged over the years , got over possible insolvency situations , stood through rough weather & built their businesses brick by brick with a strong belief in their business.

The book is in 3 parts;

1.The Believers

2.the Opportunists

3.The Alternate vision.

Each Entrepreneur unravels his Vision, struggle , Team building & success story in about 15-18 pages , hence you can read the book comfortably with a number of breaks, without losing continuity.each page is in a number of paragraphs , that is easy on the eye.

The book talks about ideas well ahead of time not fruiting into business , nevertheless they had to go thru the torture till the environment was right as was with Sanjeev Bikhchandani of Naukri.com &Madan Mohanka of Tega industries. "The Sweet success" of Narendra Murkumbi , who built wealth to poor farmers thru his Renuka sugars is also very inspiring. Some of them ventured into nascent spheres like schooling, travel portals, online trading, clinical research, Fashion design etc , overcoming many hurdles.

The learning’s from Sunil Handa of Eklavya Education formerly of Core parenteral s is both

touching & highly educative, So is Jerry rao who talks of exiting a business without emotion,

when the time is ripe. The success story of Orchid Chemicals - Raghavendra rao is awe inspiring, Blazing growth with public funding right from the start.

Some of the Gems from these entrepreneurs:

"Base your business on deep customer insights"

"Being an entrepreneur is the art and science of creating value"

"In every business the more you know about the grass roots the better"

"Be the early bird in some segments instead of jostling around with many players in the large

& obvious market opportunities.Niche products always command higher margins"

"If you believe in a product, never give up.You will succeed, It may take time, It will cost money"

"How long does one hang in there? 5years, 8years, 10years?When do you decide to give up?

Never!

"Dil mein Chaah to niklegi raah"

The book makes you realize that behind every Successful business, there is a lot of Risk taking, Sacrifice, Being ahead of others, Innovative ideas, Mobilizing people by selling their ideas, Ability to weather storms and hold back with grit and determination, Never faltering away from the original vision & goal.

A very good book that makes interesting reading , I strongly recommend to those who

are looking for Motivation.
