They also have send their LOI to Government for Hindustan Fertilizers Ltd. Sterlite is also a leading manufacturer of optical fibres in the country and also the biggest supplier of OFC to DOT.
The promoters, the Agarwals (Anil and Naveen Agarwal) are a big name in the business circles. They also started their business from scratch like the Ambanis. It is through their sheer grit and determination that they have been able to build an empire as huge as they have now, adn which is still growing.
Though price rigging in the share market was one of the strongest allegations against Sterlite, they have come out of it successfully. The ban imposed by SEBI was withdrawn.
