Ive become a very lazy person. Ahem. Okay, Ive become lazier these days. Or perhaps this is the efftect of too many holidays in Oct + hottest month in Bombay being Oct. My social calendar is zilch & all the holidays in the month of Oct were spent curled up reading books or watching movies rented from seventymm. Okay, an occasional play (Chaos Theory at Prithvi) & movie at the theatre (Flashbacks of a fool, Daniel Craig or the trashy Fashion). But Ive never managed to gather my guts to venture out to a restaurant/bar. Perhaps I see no point in them anymore. The food almost never satisfies me, the prices are extravagant, and dammit you cant drive home, like the old days. Perhaps Im just getting mature (ahem, not Old). But dining out hardly seems appealing any more!
Chilling with my family in Poona, we headed to Stone Water Grill, which is in the happening part of the city, koregaon park (little ahead of ABC farms), couldn’t protest, with prior reservations & all, plus can hardly resist the temptation of continental food. While taking a nice walk from the parking to the restaurant (walk by the riviera pool), noticed a shut Hard Rock Café – Did it ever open? or is it temporarily shut? Pls someone throw some light. Were escorted to the wrong table and after a slight oops, were led to the right one. The stewards knew what they were talking about with regards to the food. Swanky place (See the pic of the loo Ive attached- ull get the idea!) with an equally fancy menu! Thought Id skip the pasta stuff & try some thing fancy! So ordered prawns & calamari as starters (this is a really bad review- I don’t remember the names of the dishes!).
This really blew me away. Ive been very low profile with food lately. Sticking to rozana sabzi & stuff. The only thing I seem to like these days is squids! And Im a big fan! (Will change within a few months, not to worry). And dunno if its my latest fancy or the chefs incredible skill, but I relished it enormously. Took me back to my holiday at Bangkok, where every meal was an exquisite gift from the Lord above.... (wokay, conti & SE food is very diff , but im refering to the times where I really l LOVED everything I ate)
Next was the beef steak. The problem was that using the fork & knife mustve looked like Im brutally murdering the poor already dead animal! Sometimes that is expected out of beef, but even my dad struggled with his Australian lamb! Im sure we looked like cartoons, using kata-chammach for the first times in our lives! Thankfully, the staff accepted that the knives were blunt! And it was a great relief that the beef wasn’t hard at all, it was as tender as Id wanted it to be.
The food & prices
- I LOVED both the dishes & they were prices around 350 each= Good, Not really expensive food!
- My dad HATED his Australian lamb (Very chewy, abysmal as compared to the many, many places hes had the same dish) and it was priced 1600 bucks= Bad, very expensive food!
We did get a complimentary dessert for all the hardships we faced; hence their hospitality dept does get my vote.
Overall a cool place, but Im done venturing out and Im happy back to chilling at home!
