++Seedy Tales of Gay! Lord++

Straight is a straightforward story of Straight Guy, who never was able to go the other way. Still a virgin at the age when his hairline has started receding and being jilted-jolted – and thrown with the fact on his face that he is no good, his frank despair makes your heart go out for him. Poor Pinu Patel has never been hitched!!! Unseen and unheard in these times, for a guy who lives in upscale community of London and owns a restaurant , it is the biggest mockery! But then comes a double wonder in his life in form of Kamlesh and Renu. Alongwith the restaurant they also lift up the spirits of Pinu.Happiness carries confusion! Perplexed Pinu finds himself questioning about his own sexuality and tendencies.He find himself attracted towards Kamlesh not Renu!!! Cut cut cut…..From here the movie gets interesting daring and defies the norms set in by the industry till now. It tries to explore the possibilities and grounds never touched earlier.That to without being derisive about the spirit of homosexuality and giving it due respect.A point came when I felt like applauding, but not too soon it just goes the usual way. The end is clichéd , melodramatic and a plain dampener to the spirit.

Vinay Pathak could have never been replaced in the roleof Pinu Patel. His temperament is phenomenal. The straightforwardness, confusion and eventually revolt are evident as and when required. His facial expression just customize themselves with the need of the story. Anuj Chaudhary as Kamlesh seems like a good choice too. A general busybody , jovial happy go lucky kinds who is pretty expressive about his thoughts, addingon humor to the plain life of Pinu Patel.He is a fresh face to look forward to.Gul Panag is pretty as Renu! In everything right from her dimpled cheeks, to the creations, she acts the role of a woman which every “straight”guy would love to marry!Surprise package is Siddharth Makkar. The advisor, mentor and cousin of Pinu Patel , he speaks out few home truths and makes himself pretty noticeable.I wonder about Ketaki Dave , is she planning to become the mascot mom of all guys who showed signs of being gay.Neverthless husband wife duo Ketaki and Rasik can be missed in a blink.

Music was another revelation for me. Quite pleasant and hummable ! While the background score is given by Louis Banks, the music director is Sagar Desai. Saanso ka rukna was beautifully picturised with lovely https://lyrics. Humko Churaya has a lilting quality about it. Kya hua isanother one which brings on beauty of the situation.

Post Pyaar Ka Superhit Formulae, this is Parvati Balgopalan’s second baby. Another good effort I must say but then again this movie belongs to that league where I wonder, if it was the actor whocarried the movie on the shoulders or the director who was able to tap the best potential of the actor. There is one incidence which I have been observing inall the movies released this year. The enormous potential with which the movie kicks off, gets beaten somewhere close to the climax, and it ends up in thenote where the viewer feels “Hell! What is this?”. Gone are the days that the climax used to be so moving that it covered up all the flaws of the movie.Nobody cared for a loose editing, screenplays or few bad actors in the movie, if the story was hitting enough alongwith an end which drew extreme emotions from the viewer. I am sure in this case Parvati probably or should I say Uttam Gada, the story writer never had the courage to come up with an end which did not suit the Indian mentality; but wish they would have realised, such was the need of the story. While for about one and half hours the movie seems to be shot in one frame of mind, the last half hour looks like another frame of mind.

Nonetheless movie has its moments and the presentation of a confused mind wondering over its sexual tendencies is brilliantly put. On and on it’s a safe bet to watch it alone/ with friends/ couple minus kids, guzzling up just two hours of your time.

For those who suffer from homophobia , who suffer but pretend not to and of course for those who don’t :P
