1. The Story:
Stree 2 takes us again to the backdrop of the spine chilling town Chanderi where the presence of the spirit of the woman donned in red saree is still felt. Three friends, Vicky(Rajkummar Rao), Bittu(Aparshakti Khurana), and Jana(Abhishek Banerjee) are back to solve the mystery in this one. The movie continues from where the first part left with the trio still traumatized, but this time they deal with a more potent Stree. When they start investigating the source of the supernatural power, the duo stumbles into other mysteries and hidden milestones as well as twists while in their pursuit of saving their town from the looming evil.
2. The Review:
Stree 2 is a very good sequel which is as equally spooky and funny as the first part. After the success of Stree, Director Amar Kaushik does a successful hit and copy of Stree but it does not feel like a copy it feels like a novel chapter altogether. The screenplay is great, the pacing allow the audience to be hooked and even those who might not get the comedy, will appreciate the horror. Abovesaid the concept of the film enhances the tale of Stree, presents new aspects to the viewers. Through comedy, anticipation and some horror moments Stree 2 keeps the audiences on their toes.
3. Summary:
Performances: Rajkummar Rao is cast as Vicky and does an excellent job playing the role to humorous entitlement as well as the internal conflict the part requires. His camaraderie with Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee feels charming, and brings most of the laughs of the movie . Shraddha Kapoor brings a certain mystery into the whole picture which the audience does not expect through the film.
Direction & Screenplay: Amar Kaushik as the director has done a great job to maintain horror and comedy in the film quite well. Writing and dialogues are tender and witty and the plot of the script is rather engaging and non-predictable.
Music & Atmosphere: It is noteworthy that the sound is very important to create an atmosphere of the film; the background music adds a mystery to the film and the camerawork obviously enunciates the eerie beauty of Chanderi. Night scenes are another aspect of the film where the director managed to create impressive and rather tense atmosphere.
Special Effects: The special effects that are the vivid and distinguishing feature of this show have received an improvement to provide slicker and more realistic visuals that added life to Supernatural themes within the series. As for Stree, her existence is depicted as being both horrifying and hypnotizing simultaneously while obvious admiration is all over the movie for her character.
4. My final words for this movie:
Stree 2 does it again in continuing this tradition, adding the necessary humor and suspense that fans of the original will enjoy. Of course, it has the spine of a B-horror movie with strong performances, an air-tight script, engaging story and an adept mix of horror-comedy. Whether or not Stree 2 is to your liking, whether you enjoy the ‘scary’ Street perfomances of Bollywood or any other film industry, or whether you’re looking for just a good laugh at the theatre, Stree 2 delivers the kind of comedy needed to keep the entertainers moving and the masses happy.
