This was launched in India around the late 90s and came in cans priced at 50-60 rs in a 1/2 container. That time, the cans were expensive and this made it slightly on the higher side taking into account landed price of a can being 8-12 rupees. Local excise and sales taxes ultimately killed the product in India - also this is not a beer guzzling country, unless spked with glycerine and other tri-ch** to make it shine with plenty of alcohol to provide bang for buck.
It came in 2 varieties - one in a Red can: the strong stuff and the other in a Blue Can: the mild nice stuff. So if you felt a need to celebrate, express yourself loudly or it is an evening, you go for the Red one, else u go for the blue one. The best stuff of this beer was the way it flushed itself cleanly out of the system, without leaving you with the buzzy feeling in the head that most Indian beers do.
Somehow what got me a bit cheezed off was not having the bottle option, that would have brought the price down and made it more accessible to all and sundry to sustain and keep people like this writer satisfied.
A memory of this beer that would never go away and I would suggest u try this. Getting a can, covered in a tissue with Koliwada prawns or Fish, hire an auto rickshaw, a walkman, someone to share the delight and move around in the auto in late hours of the evenings - good way to come back home after a late night in the office and also to rest your head at home and not having to eat dinner at home.
ummm - sweet dreams
